The ongoing legal battle between K‑Pop sensation NewJeans and their agency ADOR has concluded with the Seoul Central District Court ruling in favour of ADOR. The court rejected the group’s bid to terminate their contract early, which is set to remain valid until 2029.

The dispute arose after the dismissal of Min Hee‑jin, NewJeans’ mentor and former ADOR CEO, which the members cited as a breach of trust and a reason to leave the agency. Following this, the group attempted to rebrand and operate independently under the name “NJZ,” announcing livestreams and other public actions. However, the court determined that the contractual obligations still bound the members.

Legal experts emphasise that voiding exclusive entertainment contracts in the K‑Pop industry is challenging, and claims of “broken trust” are not easily sufficient to terminate agreements. Despite the setback, NewJeans plan to appeal the decision, while ADOR has announced plans to resume promotions and release new content, reaffirming the group’s commitment to future projects.
