UAE Passport and Emirates ID Renewal Now Automatic for Eligible Residents

UAE Passport and Emirates ID Renewal

UAE passport and Emirates ID renewal have become fully automatic for eligible residents, thanks to the launch of the new Taqdeer Package by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). The initiative eliminates the need for applications or in-person procedures for senior citizens and people of determination enrolled in the national social support programme.

Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Community Empowerment, the Taqdeer Package is part of the second phase of the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to simplify government services and reduce unnecessary administrative steps.

A Seamless, Human-Centered Service

Under the new system, authorities will automatically monitor the expiry dates of passports and ID cards for those eligible. Before the current documents expire, renewals will be processed, printed, and delivered directly to residents’ homes—without requiring any action from them.

The Authority stated that the initiative is a gesture of gratitude toward senior citizens and people of determination, honoring their contributions and lifelong service to the UAE. It also reflects the nation’s social responsibility values and supports the “Year of the Community 2025” agenda, which celebrates inclusivity and public well-being.

From Three Steps to Zero

Previously, renewing a passport or Emirates ID involved multiple manual procedures. Now, the process is entirely digital, proactive, and automated. Once the renewal is completed, the beneficiary will receive a notification confirming the update, followed by home delivery of the new documents.

With this transformation, the number of required steps for this group has been reduced from three to zero, ensuring a smoother, more dignified, and user-friendly service experience — a major milestone in the UAE’s mission to make government interaction effortless for all citizens.
