UAE expatriates planning to visit Oman should be aware of the specific Oman visa requirements UAE residents must meet in 2025. Whether traveling for work, leisure, or family visits, expats can obtain either a visa on arrival or a GCC resident eVisa, available exclusively for certain approved professions.
UAE expats have two visa options to enter Oman without sponsorship:
Visa on Arrival: Available at Muscat International Airport and Oman’s land borders, with a 28-day stay allowance.
GCC Resident eVisa: Applied online via the Royal Oman Police (ROP) eVisa portal (evisa.rop.gov.om), valid for 28 days.
Both visa types require that your occupation, as shown on your Emirates ID, belongs to Oman’s approved professions list. Those not on the list must apply for a sponsored visa through a travel agent, Oman embassy, or family sponsorship.
To qualify, your Emirates ID must reflect one of the following jobs recognized by Oman authorities, including doctors, engineers, accountants, lawyers, teachers, pilots, businessmen, pharmacists, IT professionals, journalists, nurses, designers, and many more specialized roles. Having one of these professions ensures eligibility for the unsponsored visa options.
At Airport: Available at Muscat International Airport’s visa counters.
At Land Borders: Accessible at major border crossings for travelers driving from UAE.
Fees: OMR 5 (approx. AED 47.76). A UAE exit fee of AED 35 also applies when leaving the UAE.
Requirements: Valid passport (minimum six months validity) and Emirates ID.
Visit the official ROP eVisa platform and create an account.
Choose the “Unsponsored Visa” option for GCC residents.
Fill out personal and passport details, select your profession, and upload:
Copy of UAE residence visa
Emirates ID or GCC resident ID
Passport copy and photo
Submit the application and pay the OMR 5 fee once approved.
Processing takes approximately 4-5 working days, variable by application complexity.
