Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Launches Al Jalila Foundation’s ‘The Cancer Fund’ to Support Patients

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Health Board of Directors, officially launched ‘The Cancer Fund’ under Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health, at a ceremony held at Dubai Hospital. The event was attended by key figures including Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Health Board.

The Cancer Fund aims to alleviate the financial burden of cancer treatment for patients, ensuring continuous care and support throughout their recovery journey. The launch featured the unveiling of ‘The Giving Wall’ at Dubai Hospital, honoring donors who have generously supported treatment programs.

Prominent attendees included Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of Dubai Ruler’s Court; Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation Board; Dr Alawi AlSheikh-Ali, Director General of Dubai Health Authority; Dr Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), among other senior officials.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed emphasized that giving is a core value deeply embedded in UAE’s heritage, upheld by the leadership to prioritize health and wellbeing. He commended donors and institutions for their crucial role in strengthening community philanthropy and improving quality of life.

Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg described The Cancer Fund as a strategic initiative to build a sustainable support system for patients, highlighting the importance of community and institutional collaboration in enhancing healthcare impact.

Dr Amer Al Zarooni noted that this year’s Ramadan campaign dedicated to The Cancer Fund will broaden support options for cancer patients, reflecting Dubai Health’s ‘Patient First’ commitment. The fund has enabled care for 650 cancer patients in the past year, with donations exceeding AED43 million through the ‘A’awen’ program.

Al Jalila Foundation invites individuals and organizations to contribute to the Ramadan 2026 campaign, emphasizing that every donation helps cancer patients access essential treatment and support.
