Sharjah Collection, the tourism-hospitality arm of the Sharjah Investment & Development Authority (Shurooq), has achieved a major triumph at the 2025 World Luxury Hotel Awards — securing eight prestigious global and regional titles. This recognition reaffirms Sharjah’s position as a global leader in sustainable, culturally rooted luxury hospitality.
The awards celebrated multiple properties under the Sharjah Collection umbrella — including Kingfisher Retreat, Al Badayer Retreat, Al Faya Retreat, and the Wishi Restaurant at Najd Al Meqsar. Each win reflects a curated focus on eco-tourism, authentic design, and meaningful guest experiences.
Kingfisher Retreat, located along the mangrove-lined coast of Kalba, was honoured with Best Luxury Eco Resort in the Middle East and Best Luxury Sustainable Resort in the Middle East. The retreat operates in harmony with a protected coastal ecosystem, showcasing how luxury can be deeply respectful of nature.
On the other end of Sharjah’s environment is Al Badayer Retreat — nestled in the dunes of the emirate’s desert. This desert retreat claimed Best Luxury Cultural Retreat in the Middle East and the globally competitive Best Luxury Desert Resort award for its fusion of Bedouin-inspired architectural heritage with modern comfort.
In Mleiha, Al Faya Retreat captured Best Luxury Boutique Retreat in the Middle East and the globally coveted Best Luxury Wellbeing Retreat. Designed to be a wellness sanctuary, this retreat combines minimalist aesthetics with the serenity of the desert, offering an immersive escape rooted in the region’s timeless landscape.
Not far away, Wishi Restaurant, situated at Najd Al Meqsar in Khorfakkan, won Best Luxury Unique Experience in the Middle East and Best Magnificent Scenic Views in the Middle East. This heritage eatery, set in a mountain village overlooking Wadi Wishi, highlights traditional Emirati cuisine and authentic architecture against a dramatic natural backdrop.
Ahmed Ben Zaied, General Manager of Sharjah Collection, said the eight awards are “a proud moment” and a validation of Sharjah’s vision for sustainable, culturally grounded luxury. He emphasised that Shurooq’s long-term strategy — integrating environmental stewardship, local heritage, and guest experience — is being recognised on the global stage.
These accolades not only celebrate individual properties but also underscore Sharjah Collection’s broader commitment: to build tourism infrastructure that preserves the environment, fosters cultural authenticity, and supports community development.
The success at the 2025 World Luxury Hotel Awards is aligned with Shurooq’s vision of sustainable growth, positioning Sharjah as a destination for conscientious travellers who appreciate luxury without compromise.
