UAE Unsettled Weather Rain: Country Braces for Showers, Gusty Winds and Thunderstorms This Week

UAE Unsettled Weather Rain

UAE unsettled weather rain is forecast to impact much of the country over the coming week, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warning of rainfall, gusty winds and occasional thunderstorms linked to a developing low-pressure system. Conditions are expected to shift from partly cloudy to overcast at times, with showers becoming heavier over coastal areas, islands and northern regions as the system strengthens.

What NCM says about the system

According to NCM, the UAE will be affected by a surface low extending from the Red Sea, combined with an upper-air trough that will trigger atmospheric instability from Saturday through the following Friday. This setup is likely to produce light to moderate rain at first, with some periods of heavier downpours as clouds thicken.

From Tuesday onwards, cloud activity is expected to intensify further, bringing intermittent heavy showers, thunder and lightning, with a chance of hail in certain locations. Winds may strengthen at times, raising dust and sand and causing reduced horizontal visibility, especially in exposed and open areas.

‘Al Bashair’ system and changing pattern

The Storm Centre, a local weather monitoring platform, has named the system “Al Bashair,” which translates to “good tidings,” reflecting optimism over the long-awaited rainfall. The upcoming showers follow a prolonged dry spell across the country and are expected to mark a noticeable shift after weeks of limited precipitation.

Forecasters note that this pattern signals an active weather phase for the UAE, with residents advised to stay updated on official alerts and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain, strong winds or reduced visibility on the roads.
